I’ve had a spring capsule wardrobe on my mind since we got that first bit of sun a couple of weeks ago and I had nothing but woolly jumpers and boots to wear. Our recent trip to Oslo made me realise that I already pretty much have one though.
A quick re-jig of what I wore with what left me sorted for my spring city break without me having to panic buy anything on ASOS beforehand. What’s even better is I only took 6 items!
I’ll no doubt be adding to my collection once the sun decides to stick around more permanently but for now, and for this trip, these 6 spring capsule wardrobe items really were all I needed.
I freaking love my dungarees! I honestly never even consider buying a pair until my boyfriend suggested it. Now I have, I’ll be eternally grateful to him. They’re SO comfy, go just as well with jumpers in winter as they do t-shirts in summer and have more pockets then even I have use for. I wore them with my striped tee (below) to travel in. Oh, and whenever I had a holiday food baby to hide!
I’d been on the lookout for a long-sleeved striped tee for a while before I stumbled on this one. It’s from The White Company which isn’t somewhere I typically shop for clothes but for a staple like this, I wanted to invest. There’s nothing particularly special about this one. It’s just a good quality top I get a lot of wear out of and it was definitely my most worn item of the weekend.
I live and die in this black body at home. It goes with everything from skirts and jeans to trousers and sweats so of course it made the cut when it came to packing. It was only £3.50 from Primark too which makes it all the more satisfying to wear.
I’m impressed I managed to narrow down my culotte collection to just one pair for this trip if I’m honest. They are the one item of clothing I go overboard with. Like my dungarees, they’re just so darn comfy and versatile! I opted for this black pair to travel with (obviously) and paired them with the striped tee in the daytime and the black body for a smarter, more evening appropriate look.
This top is one of the only ‘jeans and a nice top’ tops I own but it’s a good’un. It’s not the most comfortable items of clothing I own thanks to the buttons that run up the left arm but I take the hit for dinner and drinks every now and again. The flared sleeves and gingham print make it a little bit more feminine and interesting than most of my other staple pieces but it’s still a classic, high-neck, square shape I hope will stand the test of time.
Black skinny Jeans
Funnily enough, I only wore my jeans once, with the above-mentioned top. Now I’ve been introduced to the comfortable world of culottes and dungarees, I must admit my black skinnies have taken a back seat. They’re definitely still handy to have for day-to-day though.
Bar the above, my Vans, heeled boots, and green Topshop coat were the only other things I packed. I’m pretty sure I’ll continue to wear all of them to death this spring/ summer too!
