Back at the start of the year I published eight of my plans for 2018 for the whole world (or at least the few of you who read my blog) to see in the hope that it would scare me into sticking to them.
Earlier this week, I sat down to see how many of them I’d actually made progress with. Spoiler alert, they’re a mixed bag.
Make my own skincare
This is still something I would love to do but I have to be honest, I haven’t even started. I’ve tried out a lot of new skincare recently since my whole stash ran out at the same time as it always does and have definitely got rid of some of the more obviously bad-for-you products but there’s still progress to be made.
If anyone knows of any natural skincare products I should try until I find time to experiment myself, let me know in the comments.
At least I tried
Better to have tried and failed then never to have tried at all, right? Well, at least I’m hoping that’s the case because I TRIED to give blood but it didn’t exactly go to plan. Apparently, you’re not supposed to go to the gym beforehand and have low blood pressure when you donate but I ticked both boxes which meant I got half a pint deep before I nearly passed out and they had to stop and throw my stash in the bin. Hoping to try again one day.
Go back to Spanish class
YAY – the first one I can actually say I’ve completed. I’ve not been every single week of the year so far because it’s just not possible for me but I have been going pretty regularly and making an effort to prioritise something that genuinely makes me happy.
Keep going to the gym
Another one ticked off the list. Bar a few weeks off thanks to a broken car that means I haven’t been able to get to the gym, I’ve been sticking to my 2-3 times a week routine and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve even switched gyms to one with a better timetable that means I can go to more morning classes before work – get me!
Put myself out there
I’ve been making an effort to network more and approach companies I want to work with but there’s definitely more I could do to put myself out there freelance-wise. The trouble for me right now is that the clients I’m currently working for are A DREAM and I’m pretty content with both my workload and the content I’m working on which I guess is a success in itself. Freelancing can be so unpredictable though so I definitely need to make a point of planning for future projects.
Oslo and Croatia were both fab for very different reasons and I wrote a post about my favourite places to eat in Norway’s capital which went down a treat too – bonus! A long weekend in Madrid and a family holiday in Marbella are both on the cards for later in the year too but I’m still keen to travel further afield whether it’s at the end of this year or the start of next. Watch this space.
I got off to a great start, trying out new recipes and working on my cooking skills a couple of times a week but life’s been so busy that I’ve kind of let this one slip I’m afraid to say. I’ve still done some cooking I’ve just played it a lot safer than I’d have liked to. There’s still plenty of 2018 left to change that though!
Put down my phone
Surprise, surprise, I haven’t even come close with this one. My phone is more glued to my hands than ever before. One thing I have been doing is leaving my phone at home though if I’m going to the gym or out for dinner which I guess is a step in the right direction.
How are you getting on with your goals for the year? Better than I am?
